Amiga A1500 x86 project

Hello again all.

A little while ago I set about putting a PC into an A1500 case, it was important to me not to just plonk an x86 motherboard into the case, for me it needed to look like the case was made for the motherboard and so off I went to see what I could do.

This took a lot more work than many people think, the rear panel had to be CAD drawn and then waterjet cut

The internals of the case had to be made, brackets for the hard drives, floppy drives and DVD drive

Even the Commodore Amiga A1500 case label on the rear of the machine had to be, designed and redrawn for this machine

Many parts were fabricated by hand

The case needed to be repainted in the correct colours

Once all of this was in place, the cutting, welding and fitting could begin

Now we were getting somewhere, time to start installing this i5 and motherboard in place

The PCI cage needs to be correctly aligned

An Arduino was used to provide the original 9 pin joystick ports (thanks to Andy Mason)

More parts going into the case

The case is looking happier in it's new shiny colours :) with matching wireless keyboard and mouse.

Lovely, change the bios boot screen and remove the windows branding, boot directly into a WinUAE setup

and last but by no means least test games :D

The last thing i did was to straighten the drives and install some space pieces between the two drives with another spacer above as newer drives are smaller than the originals
